Blast Soccer Club entered six teams into the Disney tournament with four teams advancing to the finals.

All teams played and competed extremely well with every player receiving significant amount of playing opportunities in a highly competitive environment. Five teams featured combination of players from Chicago and Florida Blast Soccer Club. Blast Soccer Club is well respected for providing special opportunities for players and families in such settings as the Disney tournament, FC DELCO, and the Dallas Cup. These types of venues and many other high level tournaments is a significant part of the Blast Soccer Club tradition.

In the Disney tournament our coaches did an excellent job providing effective game management skills and making necessary tactical adjustments for each game. Many thanks go out to our team administrators for all the organizational preparation that went in prior and during the tournament. Our parents and families who made the trip were outstanding. They were positive, enthusiastic, and exhibited outstanding class during the entire tournament. This was one of the most efficient tournaments as far as everyone being on time and ready to go regardless of time or distance.
Most of the teams in the tournament had strong representation from Florida Blast S.C. with many players making significant contributions in each game by scoring, defending, and goalkeeping. Our teams and players were absolutely spot on this weekend in all areas of play. All of our teams again received praise from opponents, referees, and coaches regarding our style of play. Not one time in the tournament did any of our players lose composure or act out of competitive character in victory or in defeat. Besides the success of winning, our teams and players exhibited a high level of sportsmanship throughout the entire tournament.

U-14 Boys team played well and grew stronger during each game despite having several key players sitting out due to injuries. However the team saved the best for last exposing a high level of attacking, team defending, and ball possession during the championship 3-0 win. What made this team special is the fact that every player contributed and provided not only high energy but highly effective effort.

The van ride to Orlando and back to Chicago was also a big hit. Zeke never stopped laughing and talking except while the championship game was taking place. All the kids look forward to the van ride. The van ride became very popular that we had to get two vans for this trip. Next big van ride to Florida is scheduled for the SMIA Training Camp, June 20-24, in Amelia Island. Chicago players make your reservations with Zivka by calling 630-257-6900.

The U-11 had an incredible game in the semi finals winning on a golden goal with one minute left to reach the finals. They were absolutely fantastic to watch. The U11 Boys won the Silver Medal.

U-10 Girls played very well taking home a Silver Medal losing 4-3 in the Championship game. Missed several key goal scoring opportunities. There is a lot talent on the U-10 Girls team, now we just have to be patient for the growth to kick in.

U-9 Boys were exiting to watch. They played attacking soccer and missed out advancing to the medal round on a one goal differential.Great experience for the boys, should do well in St. Louis with the full squad.

U-19 Boys who were made up of several younger players competed well in every game. Opponent’s size and speed was not significantly different. Team missed several scoring opportunities when they were created. A great experience for the younger players.

The U-16 Girls played outstanding soccer all weekend long however in the semi finals ran into a very good team from Minnesota. The girls should be proud of the Bronze medal they won. It was a collective team effort. They worked hard and played effectively by showing technical efficiencies and tactical understanding. This team has come a long way.

The next club wide tournament is April 22-24, Lou Fusz Spring Invitational Tournament in St. Louis. All Chicago Blast teams should be prepared to attend. The Illinois FC tournament in Champaign, IL May 1-3 will follow.

Chicago and Florida Soccer Club are proud of all our players and families. GO BLAST!!
